Fishing at Bowland Lakes
If you’re looking for top-notch coarse fishing in a fantastic location, Bowland Lakes is the place to be. The site has three main lakes – Swanbrook Lake, which can accommodate up to 20 anglers; the Canal, which has 40 pegs; and the Serpentine Lake with 15 pegs. Additionally, there are smaller ponds, including Butterfly One and Butterfly Two, suitable for pleasure anglers, novice, and experienced fishermen.
All of our lakes are well-stocked and regularly maintained, featuring a variety of species in different sizes and weights. Most lakes house Mirror, Common, and Grass Carp, Tench, Perch, Roach, Rudd, Bream, and a limited quantity of Barbel and Chub that offer challenges for anglers of all levels. Fishing is open to our guests, residents and the general public with a day ticket. Overnight fishing is not offered.
Swanbrook Lake, covering approximately two acres, provides a picturesque and tranquil setting for coarse fishing with a mix of Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch, and some beautiful Koi and Grass Carp that can often be seen feeding in the surface layers on a warm day.
The Canal Lake is a 40-peg pleasure and match lake, that holds a good stock of carp, bream, tench, chub, roach, rudd, barbel, and perch. Fish can be caught with most methods on this lake, but some favourite tactics seem to be coarse fishing close up to the far bank. As with Swanbrook Lake, there are a few elusive carp in the canal that are rumoured to be around 20lb!
Serpentine Lake, also known as the Doughnut, is a fantastic pleasure and match lake stocked with various species suitable for fishing even during the coldest months. Each of the 15 pegs is strategically positioned to allow anglers to fish comfortably and effectively. Simple tactics work best on this lake, and don’t forget to bait up!
Butterfly 1 and 2 offer a natural and relaxing fishing experience with no designated pegs, allowing anglers to choose their preferred spot. These ponds hold a good stock of Carp, Bream, Tench, Roach, Rudd, and Perch, and offer a perfect balance of tree cover and open space.
